The Approach
Psychotherapy in the person-centered tradition is not about fixing others but about being there with the other in an environment of trust, caring, profound respect, and empathy.
Rogers built his theory through experience and this is the way we try to guide you. Through your experiences, you will come to understand these concepts in your own unique way.

History of PCP Academy

of 5
In the 1950s, A. Maslow and C. Rogers developed the field of humanistic psychology. After teaching at the University of Chicago and the University of Wisconsin, Carl Rogers moved to La Jolla, California, where he found more freedom to implement his scientific ideas. In the same city, Carl Rogers and his colleagues founded the Center for Studies of the Person.

Rogers' most famous book "On Becoming a Person" is published.
He goes even deeper: from a client — to a person.
1961
Carl Rogers publishes the book "Client-Centered Therapy," based on research he conducted at the University of Chicago.
It was this book that popularized the term "client" in reference to the recipient in psychotherapy.
